October 31 bike to workWell rode home in fading light - not a good time to realise one of lights had tired batteries! Was okay actually as it was one of a few on bike. Two fixed, one on helmet, a flashing armband and a high vis vest with LEDs built in. Not all were needed tonight but if deployed I'll be like a moving christmas tree - as SarahL desrcibed herself on the bike. Full sets of fresh batteries throughout now, fronts had new cells in anyways but all tickety boo now.
One hour and one minute in, one hour back but a fraction further. Am pooped now legs are heavy, eyelids are heavy and head is hurting - only one thing to do and that involves the sofa and the contents of the beer fridge. Did enjoy getting back into the riding to work thing - hope can stick at it. Will have to restock my provisions drawers at work before I does it next time thoughs. October 25 In between the showersManaged to avoid the rain today when out for my run. It's now chucking it down and it had been earlier. I nipped out after lunch and did a steady 6.25 in 49 minutes. A nice flat run took it easy - well that was the plan. Have been tired for the last few days - maybe the remnants of that cold last week?? Maybe it was something more than a cold? Maybe I've just been overdoing it? Dunno but still feel a bit weary whilst running? Mmmm lots to think about - could be food intake?
Anyways a nice steady run - equivalent to a sub-50 10k is a decent enough training run. Am still thinking about next years races etc and have not really made any decisions - Paul at club was mentioning the M word to me again - dunno if it's for me and if it was which one to go for. Lochaber was mentioned but Edinburgh had crossed my mind - then again I might wait until later in the year - Moray or Inverness??? All will depend if I get a GNR place - which would be a priority race for me. All sounds easy sat here typing a blog looking at October rain lashing down on a darkening Scottish sky. October 22 More runny stuffHad a wasted day on Monday – worked from home waiting for a plumber, who didn’t arrive until 1900 so no run and missed blood donor session – pah!
Managed to get to Harriers on Tuesday night – Police station hill times 8 – yes 8 times up that hill. I felt okay, tired but not knackered yet not really strong. It was a good turn out (including WonderW who was sloping off for cake afterwards in good old Fetch stylie) and a good session as a whole – even managed to run home ( not that I had much choice to be honest). 6.9 miles in total so getting the miles in again.
Not got any race plans for next few weeks / months – there are a few races locally that I’m half tempted by but am mainly looking to next year now. Blimey the plans for next year already !! Entries open for Inverness Half so will be getting entry in soon for that. Am not sure about riding the Bealach next year – it has a feel of been there done that sort of thing. Want to get more bike events done but not at the expense of the running – and vice versa. Had the problem this year of the Tuesday League racing (bike) meaning I was knackered for next two days so need a serious think about that and how it fits with plans. Don’t want to drop it as it is great fun and great training / race pace efforts but don’t want it to scupper everything else. Mmmm all a bit odd thinking about next summer as the October rain is lashing against the autumnal leaves on the trees outside. That get’s me thinking about which jacket to wear for Harriers tonight – ah well back to reality of life in Scotland eh? October 15 This weekthis week I have mainly been having cold. No runniing or cycling. Nothing major just a sore throat and bad head. Trying to resist temptation to train - hard though. Seem over worst of it now. Might get a few miles in tomorrow night and a run at weekend. October 09 catch upwill add GNR stuff soon honest.
Yet again a catch up blog. Went to Harriers on Tuesday night but didn’t finish the session of Police Station hills – intervals on the hill next to the Police Stn not some bizarre intervals name! Had a really upset tum which made running almost impossible – and the jog home was not pleasant experience. No more info reqd but not what you’re probably thinking. Felt really low that night, like I had let myself down badly plus the not knowing what is causing this problem – not first time has happened lately. Managed a steady wee run of about 3 ½ miles on Wed and last night a nice steady 5.1 miler on my own – just nipped out in the setting sunshine – albeit it was ‘kin cold. Felt okay actually – bit tired after Sunday and time off and back to work all added up. Not got any plans for weekend nor any race plans for foreseeable future. Gonna need to get something teed up otherwise I’ll drift off into complacency and aimless plodding. Also need to get sorted about cycling to work soon. That is a must. I must make that part of my routine, its green, it saves me cash and it gets two one hour training sessions in one day – so what am I waiting for? Dunno, just keep finding excuses or putting off until next week. Get it sorted Croc! It might get you feeling a bit happier with life in general and get you out of this emotional rut that you’re stuck in. Excuse me if I go into a self directed rant here but it always helps to brain dump some of this stuff now and again. |
